Jerry Jones emphasizes the improvement of a firm’s revenue position in both the long-and short-terms. He assists in the preparations of strategic plans to help firms decide which markets to pursue. He identifies a market position which matches a firm’s capabilities and then works with the firm to implement his recommendations.
Long noted as North America’s foremost ski marketing strategist and tactician, Jerry’s 40+ years of experience is unique in the industry. He began his career in junior management positions with the Westin Hotels; by 1964 he had risen to the position of Executive Vice President of the Sun Valley Company.
Jerry has served as President of both Beaver Creek and Keystone Resorts, two of the world’s most prestigious and popular vacation destinations. In addition, he has been General Manager of the Snowmass Resort Association and Executive Vice President of Vail Associates, Inc. In each executive position, Jerry shaped the resort’s image, focused its marketing and management strategies and enhanced its market share significantly.
His marketing and business expertise has been utilized by such nationally recognized sport teams as the St. Louis Blues Hockey Club and the University of Colorado’s Athletic Department. His logo and marketing strategies for the latter were on nationwide display when the Colorado Buffs captured the National Championships at the 1991 Orange Bowl.
In 1990, he formed the Jerry D. Jones and Associates to further expand his business ventures with the expertise and experience he had built over the years. This experience has been recognized both within and without the industry. He frequently is the subject of interviews by such publications as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and American Demographics as well as numerous ski and hospitality publications.
However, Jerry’s expertise does not stop at American borders. With his frequent trips to Japan, he is recognized as America’s foremost authority on the state of the Japanese ski industry and its vast potential in both Japanese and American markets. He is also extremely active in business development and marketing in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.
Jerry Jones is a frequent speaker at international conferences and is the recipient of numerous awards in the Resort, Hospitality and Ski Industries.
